Spain's Ubbicalia to build logistics center near Sofia airport

- Investor: Ubbicalia Bulgaria, a unit of Spanish construction and engineering group Detea
- Project: construction of a large logistic center near the Sofia International Airport
- Investment: EUR 15 m
- Size: 5.0 ha site of built-to-suit offices and warehouse buildings
- Timeframe: construction works scheduled to begin in late 2006 and should be completed in 3 years.

Detea, which has been doing business in Bulgarian for 2.5 years, has so far invested here EUR 25 m and intends to spent another EUR 120 m by 2011 on projects developed by Commercia, the division for commercial and entertainment properties, and Ubbicalia, the division for industrial, logistic and production facilities. Detea is currently building the EUR 50 m Commercial Park Sofia, a shopping destination adjacent to Business Park Sofia which will sport an array of retail outlets. The center should be finished in late 2007 or early 2008.
The area around the Sofia International Airport is quickly becoming a logistics hub with a handful of developments in progress. Tishman and Business Park Sofia owner Lindner have teamed up for the EUR 65 m Sofia Airport Center. Israel's Engel has announced plans for a EUR 45 m logistics center without specifying a launch date for the construction works.
