Kaolin invests 15 mln euro in production facilities

- Investor: Bulgarian mining and processing company Kaolin
- Production: silica sand, calcinated kaolin, chamotte, feldspar, dolomite and limestone
- Investment project: upgrade of 4 plants and the construction of new production facilities
- Planned capacity: 4 mln tons annually
- Net profit 2004: EUR 1.6 mln (seen up by 50% in 2005)
- Revenues 2005: to reach EUR 35 mln

Investment programme: EUR 2 mln in a limestone quarry and processing facility near the southern Bulgarian city of Dimitrovgrad by the end of September; EUR 2.5 mln so far on the acquisition and modernization of the two sand and lime Serbian plants.

Kaolin plans to complete by the end of 2005 a new EUR 1.5 mln silica sand factory in Devnya that will supply input materials to the Sisecam glass factory in Targovishte.

The company would also start exploiting new open pits at the deposits near the northeastern towns of Vetovo and Kaolinovo.

Would use own funds and cash from the five-year EUR 5 mln bond, issued in 2003, to fund the investment programme.
